I would like to start with a sincere apology for my lack of online “presence” these past few days.  It’s mid week and I have NOT been able to post this lovely recipe which I crafted for you, until now…  But you see, I have been busy prepping the house to welcome my mother-in-law who will be arriving in Boston tonight.  We are all very excited to have her for the summer, plus she is the best kitty Grandma to our cats Leo and Lily

I also took Monday off to chaperone on a school field trip to Boston, where all the 5th graders walked the Freedom Trail and learned many important things about the US History that took place in Boston.  It was an incredibly fun trip and I was grateful to be part of this one last memory of my daughter’s elementary school years (I have shed a few tears!).

With the anticipation of your understanding, I do hope that you are doing well and enjoying what life is gifting you at the moment.  I would quickly assume to say that you are enjoying this gorgeous summer weather but my readers are from all over the world (lucky me!) and summer ain’t happening everywhere.  So, tell me what is happening in your neck of the woods?

This is honestly the best time of year because it’s when I get to grow foods and cook with it.  It is far more exciting to cook knowing that I grow that vegetable or root from a tiny seed. I can’t help but to think that a miracle just happened… yes, this miracle that’s called LIFE!  As Mr. Albert Einstein said…

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

… Thumbs up for the wisdom Mr. Einstein!

Growing herbs are extremely easy and you can do all year round. All they need is a sunny spot on a windowsill and a little bit of water.  You can find many uses for fresh herbs in your cooking, to make tea, scented sachet, DIY home fragrances, etc… but my favorite little secret is that I use rosemary to naturally make a headache disappear. Sniff sniff and boom GONE!

This herb butter recipe is another great way to use fresh herbs and easily add flavor to your cooking.  Another benefit of cooking with herbs is that you do not need to use as much salt.  Herbs and spices naturally flavor the food without the need to reach out to the salt shaker.   A high quality unsalted butter is a MUST. I used my favorite Organic Valley unsalted cultured butter, because it contain absolutely NO antibiotics, synthetic hormones, toxic pesticides or GMOs.

I like to make a small tub of herb butter on weekends to easily add flavor to my cooking during the week days, without having to chop all these ingredients every time.  Keep it refrigerated and simply scoop up a small amount every time you need, it will sure cut down on cooking time.

  1. Hi Sylvia. I enjoy reading your recipes. Lovely sight. I’m longtime friends with Paula, Ron’s cousin. I have a question. Are you separating the herbs so each one is a separate flavor ie: rosemary butter, sage butter, and thyme butter? or are they all minced and mixed together?
    thanks, Kim

    1. Hi Kim, that’s so nice to hear!! Thanks so much for visiting my site, I loved to hear that. As for the recipe, my apologies for the unclear instructions (will have to fix that!). I did separate the herbs, so for each herb I used one butter stick. Mix the other ingredients and divide by 3. However, you can totally combine the herbs, I have done it and taste amazing too. You can mix, separate or try different herbs too! Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other question 🙂
