As spring arrives it seems that our appetite is seeking a change. The wintery foods such as soups and pot pies have served us well, keeping us warm and fed. But now its time for a change and this lunch menu idea is absolutely mouthwatering. This is what a gourmet lunch looks like and can easily be made with a few ingredients you might find in your kitchen at any given day.
I believe salmon is the new steak. People are becoming more concerned and aware of what they eat. There are a lot of studies out there and many more being done that explains the connection between our health and what we eat.
~ You are either going to spend money on quality, fresh and organic foods or on doctors and prescription drugs.
Although the prices of organic foods are decreasing and you always have the option of growing your own foods, that’s another subject to discuss in the future.
WHAT INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED:
Alaskan Salmon Burger ~ Spinach ~ Red Onions ~ Capers ~ Veggie Ranch ~ Hamburger Bun
For this recipe I used the Alaskan salmon burger sold at Whole Foods Market. This is my favorite salmon burger because its wild caught and made with natural ingredients. Very easy to cook, 4-5 minutes each site. The best way to cook is pan fried with a little bit of olive oil. Place a handful of spinach on the bottom bun. Add one full slice of red onions. Add your salmon burger, veggie ranch dressing and capers. Serve with a small side salad of your choice.
Just as a reminder of the nutritional values of salmon. This fish is an excellent source of protein and omega-3. I always opt for the wild caught salmon because it is more lean and there as less chances of food contamination. This is a very tasty, light but filling lunch that you and your guests will be delighted!
