Is it ever a holiday party without a tray of cookies on the table? I’d hope not because they add a layer of excitement and there is literally nothing like the smell of fresh-baked cookies around the holidays. I mean, they even make holiday cookie scented candles for a reason, right!!

There I said it!
Yet, I LOVE these so much. I love the chewy cake-like texture, (my kids said it’s browny-like) either way, it has an awesome texture, super-rich and flavorful with tiny pecan bites. Honestly, you’ll just need to try these chocolate chip pecan cookies to believe.
Or… you can look at these mouthwatering photos, and yes, I took a bite while the chocolate chip pecan cookie was warm, I guess I couldn’t resist!
Also, can you possibly resist that crinkle?
That cookie crinkle is like when you are in high school and the boy you like winks at you. Hahaha, irresistible! 😊

Chewy Chocolate Pecan Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 3 large egg whites
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups pecans (or nut of choice) finely chopped
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Using a stand mixer with paddle attachment whisk the sugar, cocoa, flour and salt to combine.
- Add in egg whites, one at a time. Then add in vanilla extract. Mix on medium high for 2-3 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a food processor or grinder pulse the pecans until finely chopped, until you reach a grainy consistency with maybe few bigger pieces in between. I used my coffee grinder and pulsed 3-4 times only.
- Add pecans and chocolate chips to the mixer bowl and whisk on medium low for only about 20-seconds.
- Drop 1 tbsp measure of cookie dough onto a lined sheet pan, leaving about an inch of space apart.
- Bake for 14-16 minutes at 325F degrees in middle rack until edges start to dry. The middle will be soft.
- Remove cookies from oven and let it cool completely before removing from sheet pan.

Not sure on temperature? I tried 350 bit the cookies didn’t flatten. Please help.
Oh gosh I can’t believe I left that out. So sorry! Bake at 325F in middle rack
Thank you so much. They are indeed delicious and my neighbors loved them too!
That’s great to hear Joel! That’s so good of you to share with your neighbors ๐
trying these tomorrow based on looks and some ingredients looks similar to the bakery ones at HEB, theirs is just a richer chocolate color, I may try semisweet chocolate chips. I really hope so.. otherwise I need family to send me the cookies from Texas. will update this tomorrow, in hopes.
Oh great, please let me know how you like them!
these are Bomb Diggity!!! I changed the chocolate Coco to dark chocolate and semi sweet chocolate chips. really good. I only let them cool about 20 minutes. can’t wait to try one tomorrow once they are completely cooled. unfortunately as of right now they don’t taste like the HEB ones I’m looking for but maybe that will change tomorrow. if not these are still very very good. I’ll try your recipe 100%. next time without changing to dark chocolate to see if theirs a difference. thank you so much for sharing. also I’m sorry couldn’t edit my rating like I thought I could I apologize. definitely deserve 10 stars!
Absolutely delicious and easy to do!
That’s great to hear! I am particularly a huge fan of these cookies myself ๐ Thanks for your feedback!
These are absolutely delicious! I want to make them for my friend that has a nut allergy. If I make them without nuts, what changes to the recipe should I make? Thank you!
Hi Debbie, I am so glad that you liked my chocolate pecan cookies! You can keep the recipe the same and simply skip the nuts. Personally I love the texture with the nuts but I understand you need to make it without nuts for your friend, it will still be tasty!
Can you freeze these once baked? Delicious!!!
Most definitely!! Enjoy it Lori ๐
Tasted like a brownie ๐
Hopefully that’s not a bad thing! But the pecan nuts should have made it taste more like a cookie. Did you use pecans??
Flavor is good but โdoughโ was too runny. Would you use less egg white or more flour?
Hi Cindy, I am not sure why yours was runny, it shouldn’t have. Next time you can definitely add a bit more flour to get to a good texture. Hope this helps!
