Ingredients and variations

  • Smoked Salmon – you can get smoked salmon in the seafood department of your local store. They usually come in 4oz package and sometimes you can get them in different flavors too.
  • Cream Cheese – this is an important ingredient, however you can use any type of cream cheese that you like, from dairy-free cream cheese to lactose-free.
  • Mayo – you will need about a third of a cup of mayo but here is the kicker, if you don’t love mayo (like myself) use creamy caesar dressing! For a spicier version use sriracha sauce.
  • Red Onions – red onions are a great addition to this recipe but you can use white onions, shallots, green onions here too.
  • Capers – tangy, salty and delicious. You can keep it out if you do not like capers.
  • Seasoning – you can use cajun or seafood seasoning. The Frontier Co-op Organic Blackened Seafood Seasoning is my go-to seasoning to use with salmon recipes.
  • Lemon – juice, to balance out the flavors.

How to make my 10-minute chunky salmon dip

There are two simple steps to my 10-minute chunky salmon dip. For a creamy dip use a food processor to mix the ingredients.

  1. Place the salmon in a wide plate. If the salmon comes with skin on, be sure to remove it first. Using two forks, flake the salmon. If you are going for a creamy dip, use a hand mixer to flake the salmon.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a bowl, including the salmon and mix well. Gently fold in smoked salmon until the ingredients are well combined.

RECIPE TIP

If you are making this recipe ahead of time, add smoked salmon dip to an air tight container and keep refrigerated. When ready to serve, stir well and add toppings of choice.

When serving the salmon dip, add a few toppings to add crunch and level up the dip. Here are a few option;

Capers and diced onions which are part of the ingredients. Fresh herbs such as dill, parsley or cilantro are great option. You can sprinkle with sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning. Add a few slices of smoked salmon or even caviar for a fancy version of this seafood appetizer.
