If you thought the Marry Me Chicken Pasta was good… wait until you meet this Marry Me Chicken Burger! Creamy sun-dried tomato sauce and bold flavors that turn into a next-level juicy chicken burger!

I made this for my family and now it’s the most requested weeknight meal!

Perfect for a weekend cookout, date nights at home, or impressing your in-laws without breaking a sweat (shhh, this is exactly what I did!). This Marry Me Chicken Sandwich is next level comfort food!

I added my own twist by using ground chicken. You can mix the seasonings and aromatics right into the patties, locking in moisture and boosting flavor in every bite. It’s cozy, satisfying, and the kind of meal that might just inspire a proposal

What makes this Marry Me Burger worthy a “yes”

Tender chicken patties seared or grilled – a lighter alternative to traditional meat burgers

Marry Me Sauce that is super creamy, saucy and satisfying and can be made dairy-free (I tried!)

✓ Soft brioche bun with crunchy veggies for a well balanced meal

Ingredients and substitutions

You probably already have most of these on hand! I have tested both regular and dairy-free, and loved the results the same!

  • Ground chicken – I decided to use ground chicken so that I could add the seasonings and aromatics right into the chicken burger. The result is a chicken sandwich that is a lot more flavorful and moist. However you can certainly substitute for chicken breast.
  • Heavy cream – whole milk will work or half & half. When I tested this recipe dairy-free I used coconut milk and loved the mildly nutty flavor and creamy texture.
  • Sun-dried tomatoes – I use preserved not whole sun dried tomato because it is much easier to incorporate into the recipe. This is the sun dried tomato I use and recommend for best results.
  • Parmesan cheese – use whole parmigiano-reggiano for better flavor. Shred the cheese just before cooking. Pre-shredded cheeses sometimes have fillers and less flavor. I tested with non-dairy or dairy-free cheese and it worked wonderfully
  • Oregano – substitute for Italian seasoning
  • Panko breadcrumbs – for biding the chicken burger
  • Egg – to help hold the burger together
  • Red onion – chopped really small. Substitute for shallots
  • Brioche bun or ciabatta rolls

silvia’s tips for best results

👉🏻 Make sure the grill/ pan is well greased (but not oily), otherwise the chicken burger will stick to the grill/ pan.

👉🏻 Only flip the burger once. These burgers are made with ground chicken, which means they’re a bit more delicate, so try to flip them just once to keep them from falling apart.

👉🏻 Use a sturdy, wide spatula or turner and slide it fully underneath the chicken burger to support it completely when flipping, this helps prevent it from breaking apart.

👉🏻 Use a meat thermometer to be sure the chicken burgers are fully cooked (internal temperature should be at least 165F degrees)

👉🏻 If you’re nervous about them falling apart, chill the patties for 15–20 minutes before grilling.

I’ve made (and loved!) the traditional Marry Me Chicken Thighs, but I wanted to simplify things and give it a twist and that’s how this burger came to be. If you are a fan of the creamy sun-dried flavors, this Marry Me Chicken Soup is a must try!

Using ground chicken gave me the chance to fold in the seasonings and sun dried tomatoes right into the meat, and the result was insanely flavorful and juicy burgers that were ready in no time.

Marry Me Chicken Burger

by Silvia Dunnirvine
This Merry Me Chicken Burger is made with creamy sun-dried tomato sauce and bold flavors that turn into a next-level juicy chicken burger made with ground chicken.
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 12 minutes
Total: 27 minutes
Servings: 4 chicken burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp sun dried tomato divided
  • 2 tsp oregano divided
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup parmigiano-reggiano cheese divided
  • 3 tbsp red onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 brioche buns

Instructions

Marry Me Chicken Burger

  • To a bowl combine ground chicken with the egg, 1 tbsp sun dried tomato, 1 tsp of oregano, salt and pepper, panko breadcrumb, 1/2 of parmesan cheese and 1 tbsp of chopped red onions.
  • Form into patties – they will be a little sticky. Trust the process for really moist chicken burger. Place chicken patties on parchment paper while you finish working the batch.
  • Pre-heat the grill, skillet or griddle then spray with oil. Cook for about 6 minutes on each side, or until golden and fully cooked. When done remove chicken burgers from heat, cover with foil while you work on the sauce.

Marry Me Chicken Sauce

  • In a small skillet heat oil. Briefly sauté the remaining red onions until slightly soft. Stir in remaining sun dried tomato and season with salt, pepper and oregano.
  • Whisk in heavy cream until everything is smooth and well incorporated. Stir in the cheese and simmer on low for a few minutes until the sauce starts to thicken (around 5 minutes)

Assemble the Burger

  • Layer fresh lettuce on the bottom half of a brioche bun, then place the chicken burger on top. Spoon a generous amount of Marry Me Chicken Sauce over the patty, then finish with sliced tomatoes, onions, or your favorite toppings. Add the top bun and serve immediately.
