Double Chocolate Banana Bread
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 cups oats
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoon cacao powder
- ⅓ cup chocolate chips
- ¼ cup almond butter
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a blender cup (except the chocolate chips) and work it for about a minute or two, depending on the machine you are using.
- Pour batter into a 9 x 5 loaf pan. I used two 6 x 3 paper loaves instead. Just keep in mind that if you decide to use one larger loaf pan, you will need to bake for an additional 3-5 minutes. Add chocolate chips (I used Enjoy Life Mega Chunks) and bake at 375F degrees for 25-28 minutes.
- Insert toothpick to make sure it is fully cooked.

Im doining righ now but I see The ingrindients are so heavy foro The blender.?
Silvia Ribas says
Sorry to hear Susan!! I use a Vitamix and my back up is a Professional Ninja, which is pretty powerful too. Wonder if you should consider adding an extra banana (only if really ripen) otherwise you can add 1/2 cup of apple sauce or yogurt. I have tried all options and they worked well for me. Hope this helps

Hi Silvia! I made this a little while ago and it was delicious! I want to make it again for Easter this weekend, particularly because my cousin's husband (whose house we are going to) is allergic to gluten, soy, dairy and nuts. Any suggestions for what I could substitute for the almond butter? Obrigada!
Silvia Ribas says
Hi Sharon, so good to hear from you!! I often make this recipe and when I don’t have almond butter I use apple sauce which works just fine. I mostly added the almond butter for the extra protein but since this recipe only requires 1/4 cup its an easy swap. Hope this helps and Happy Easter!! xoxo beijos!

Could I simply add more banana instead of almond butter?
Hannah says
Ended up using a 1/4 cup mashed avocado instead of almond butter. Turned out delicious, a lot better than I thought it would. Great recipe!
Silvia Ribas says
That’s fantastic!! Yes, avocado makes for a great baking ingredient because of it’s consistency. So happy to hear they turned out great! 🙂

I made these into mini loaves which were wonderful. I did make some minor changes though after tasting the batter. I wanted a stronger banana taste and more sweetness, so I added another 1/2 of a banana and 2 tbs. of organic coconut sugar. They were delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Silvia Ribas says
That’s great Linda, you’re very welcome! This is one of my favorite recipes, I probably make it once a week. Every week 🙂
