If there is a type of food that screams FUN and can carry on a celebration, that’s chicken wings.
This year however I wanted to make something other than chicken wings for Super Bowl Sunday.
Listen, I looooove chicken wings and this is something I make often at home. My dry-rubbed baked chicken wings recipe is on an every-other-week rotation and no one is even remotely sick of it.
But… 🙄 okay fine, there is no reason not to make wings again, after all they are the BEST finger food, party appetizer EVER!
To compromise (to be clear this is a negotiation in my head only… anyone else does this?) I decided to change the flavors and go with this sticky finger-licking party honey soy wings!
what you will need to make this instant pot honey soy sticky wings
- an instant pot, obvi – I use this 6qt instant pot I use for all my recipes
- chicken wings – lots of it!
- coconut aminos is a soy alternative option that I use for all my recipes. Use soy if you don’t have a soy allergy
- honey, preferably a dark colored amber honey
- molasses which helps caramelize and balance out the flavors
how to make instant pot sticky wings
- first season the wings with salt and pepper
- add water to the bottom of the pot and place the trivet. Arrange the seasoned chicken wings on top of the trivet (it’s okay they are on top of each other!)
- close the pot and cook on HP for 10-minutes then allow for 5-minutes of NPR (natural pressure release). Quick release remaining pressure.
- Transfer the wings to a large sheet pan and bake at 450F degrees for 15-minutes. This will help crisp up the chicken.
- Meanwhile cook sauce in the instant pot on sauté mode. Add coconut aminos, honey, molasses and garlic. Stir occasionally.
- When the wings are done Transfer it back to the instant, into the honey soy sauce for up to 5-minutes, this will glaze the wings in sauce.
- Arrange the wings in a serving platter. As the wings dry the sauce will thicken and become sticky.
take your celebration to the next level with these delicious appetizers!

Instant Pot Sticky Wings
Equipment
Ingredients
- 3 lb chicken wings
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup coconut aminios or soy
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp Molasses
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- sesame seeds or scallions (optional)
Instructions
- Spread chicken wings in a large sheet pan. Pat dry with paper towel to remove moisture. Season with salt and pepper, to taste
- Add 1 cup water to the instant pot and place trivet. Add the chicken wings on top of the trivet. They will be on top of each other and that's okay.
- Cover the pot and lock vent valve. Cook on high pressure HP for 10 minutes. When done allow for 5 minutes of natural presence release NPR and then release remaining pressure.
- Carefully transfer the wings back to the large sheet pan, not overlapping and bake at 450F degrees for 15 minutes to crips up a bit.
- Remove liquid from the instant pot, rinse and dry the pot. Place pot back in the pressure cooker and turn on saute mode.
- To the instant pot add coconut aminos (or soy), honey, molasses and minced garlic. Saute for the duration of the time the wings are in the oven 12-15 minutes. Stir occasionally. Cooking these ingredients will help thicken the sauce.
- When the wings are done in oven, carefully transfer them back to the instant pot, into the honey soy sauce and continue to saute for up to 5 minutes so that wings can bathe in the honey soy sauce. Then transfer the wings one by one to a serving platter. The sauce will thicken as it dry out in the wings
- Pour remaining honey soy sauce into a dipping bowl and serve alongside the wings. You can garnish the wings with sesame seeds or scallions if you like. Serve with lemon slices.
